special needs program
The Special Needs Enrichment Program (SNEP) meets the first Friday of each month during the Shawnee Mission School District's school year in the Multi-Purpose Room from 6:00-9:00 p.m. in order to offer one free evening a month for the parents of special needs children and their siblings.
SNEP and SibSupport (for siblings of special needs children ages Kindergarten-6th Grade) are sponsored by Leawood Baptist Church and United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of Greater Kansas City. SNEP's purpose is to provide advocacy and support to children with developmental disabilities and their families. LBC provides care for the child with special needs, ages Kindergarten to 6th Grade. Sibling support is provided for children ages Kindergarten through 6th Grade. Paraprofessionals are in each classroom and are assisted by area Middle School students.
Our next gathering is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 11, 2015, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room. For more information on SNEP or to volunteer to assist us, please e-mail Kim Mohart.
